Artist Statement

I am interested in the great abundance of  process that ceramics has to offer. I like to dance with different styles seeing which will fit me best. From glazes to molds, to conceptualization, all must represent something,  all must be acknowledged and disregarded. Create and let go, create and be lost only to find something else. I am in love with so many things, I can’t just pick one, I can’t ignore one.  I guess I am damned to create in succession.”

Blessed are the Ancients: Greeks(all periods), Etruscans, Chinese, Polynesians, Papa New Guinea, Koreans, Moche, Toltecs, Aztecs, North American Natives, Maya, Japanese, Egyptians, and the most ancient of all,  the earth and the systems that its made of.

I am interested in Grace(FORM) and all it’s opposites, Peace(MOOD) and all its opposites. Why? Life is messy and complex both of these create struggle, Perhaps the silence I create in the things that I make might ease the struggle by making it beautiful. I must understand the opposite of what I want to make, to succeed in what I make.
